Toonerville Trolley Neighborhood Association

16 April 2009 - Meeting Minutes

Toonerville Trolley Neighborhood Association

16 April 2009 – 7:00 – 7:50 pm

Saint Philip Neri

Welcoming Remarks – DiBlasi

The meeting was attended by: Philip DiBlasi, Don Driskell, Jan Marie Hemberger, Dick Irby and Aaron Jent. All are paid members.

Financial Report – Treasurer Jent reported that Toonerville now has $. But, it important to remember that $ of this amount is dedicated to the restoration of the Toonerville Park wall. Therefore, we effectively have $ .

Toonerville & Operation Brightside Clean-up Report. There was a slight misunderstanding when DiBlasi sent out the email mid-week prior to the clean-up. For some strange reason, he indicated that it was supposed to take place on Floyd Street and not the area of Brook Street around Juanita’s Burger Boy. There was a complaint from residents of Floyd Street – because they take good care of their block. The area around Juanita’s was cleaned up. Reports are the food (free breakfast) was fantastic!

Toonerville Wall Report – WE DID IT! WE HAVE THE FUNDS! Contributors List – plus CM Unseld has agreed to ask Metro council for the match that was promised.

            Toonerville                               $1000
            3rd Street Association              $1000
            1300 3rd Street Association      $1000
            4th Street Association              $1000
            Belgravia Court                          $500
            St. James Court                         $500
            2nd Street Association               $200

However, we still have to wait for MetroCouncil to vote to approve CM Unseld’s request. We still do not have the final word. But, it is looking good.

Two-Way Street Report – the city estimated the cost to be no more than $48,000. It turns out every bid was more than the expectation. There is a new request for proposals, with less work required. The closing for those bids is soon. We I hear, you will hear.

Toonerville Dog Park Report – there are about 10 members of the committee. This committee is composed of representatives from nearly all the Old Louisville associations. Working with everyone and getting their input assures everyone will have a say in the final product.

New Business

  • Tattoo Shop at 125 E Oak – there have been many complaints about the signage. It is being looked at by city officials.
  • Tire Repair/Sales behind Third Avenue Cafe on Oak Street – this is being perceived as more of a problem. This kind of business may be unacceptable in the neighborhood. The noise and smalles are disturbing the business at Third Avenue Café.
  • Donation to Central Park $50.00 – was approved. But, we did not know who to write the check to. It was decided to write it to OLIC (Old Louisville Information Center), but send it to Herb Fink.
  • Tote Bags to Dog Park Members?? – some discussion about hanging on to them. We still need to get one to each president of the neighborhood associations who contributed to the Toonerville wall. Maybe we should hang on to them for Toonerville members who contribute. Motion tabled.

Any More New Business? -none

Adjourn (prior of 8pm??) – Adjourned at 7:50 pm.
