Walkers, the weather is always great in the Mall!

If you're like us, you prefer to get in your walking before breakfast.  However, bundling up against the kind of weather we experience this time of year is a drag. So what can you do?

Easy answer.  Head over to Christiana Mall!

We had actually done that off and on in the past, but we could never get in early enough to make it worthwhile.  A peek at their site,  http://www.christianamall.com/visit/programs,

reveals that they open for walkers at 8:00 AM Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 AM on Sunday.  No good; we're generally finished walking by then (or would at least like to be!)

As it turns out, that information is apparently a bit out of date.  We are now routinely getting in at 7:00 AM.  And when we do, there are already people sitting at the Food Court having breakfast!  (The Apple store is already open for business at that hour, also.)

[Updated information, 5/29/13:  There are people who've been walking in the mall for 25 years or more, some of them as early as 5:30 AM!  However, property management recently notified the group of regular walkers that they don't want anyone walking before 7:00 AM.  The reason?  Apparently, an elderly woman who's been walking there for at least twenty years slipped on a wet floor early one morning, and she has filed suit.  The next time she showed up to walk at 6:30, she was arrested for trespassing.]

If you've never experienced walking in the mall when it's just you, the cleaning crew, a few mall cops and state troopers, and a dozen or so fellow walkers, you don't know what you're missing.  Give it a try!
