This is an annual award for neighborhood associations. Last year we honored one of the creators of the Mitchell Park West Association, Margaret McGinn who passed away in 2006. At teh time of its inception, Mitchell Park Association was both East and West, so it was a monumental task and well deserved. We would not have Mitchell Park if not for her spearheading efforts.

This year the Board is collecting ideas, but we have a pretty tight deadline for filing, the nomination must be in to Neighborhood Services by Monday, Feb 25th. We need at least a day for the Board to vote and to write it up. So the nominating process must end by midnight saturday, the 23rd. I will post the pdf of the forms tonight, so you can read thru it. (try anyway) If I cant do it, then just use your common sense.

Please make your nomination by posting a reply to this subject.

I nominate the residents of Mitchell Park West that have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years or more. It might surprise you, but there are quite a few. I stole the idea from Lisa Roach at Clark Park NA. They have residents that have lived in their homes since they were built. We do too!

Their belief in living in and contributing to their community, and foundation of stability has helped others that share their willingness to stay put!

I believe we can sketch out the idea on the submittal form, and then it will give us time to compile the list. I have several that live around me.

thx- Mark

Altho i liked the idea of nominating the longterm residents of MPWNA, it did not meet the stipulations of the Chuck Malpede Award. And as such as the nomination forms are due on Monday, tomorrow, and no other nominations have been made, and the process of approval typically includes a neighborhood meeting approval, as we did last year, my conclusion is that there will be no nomination from MPWNA this year.

We will have to find another way to honor our long time residents! and be a little more on top of the ball next year for the Award.

thx - Mark

We are rebels, what can i say. In the nomination, we started off by saying this is not your ordinary nomination....

I think it is really important to recognize the folks who have made history in our community. In a day and age when we dont stay in one place very long, it is amazing that we have some residents that moved into Campus Homes in January of 1954!

Personally,  i dont think it is about the prize, it's more about the recognition.

CIP Meeting on Thursday March 20, 2008 starting at 5:00 pm!
