SFCOA Community Update

REPAINTING THE EXTERIOR OF YOUR HOME: If you are planning to repaint your home, regardless of whether you are painting the same color or a different color from your community palette, you must verify the colors prior to painting through Kinney Management and the Design Review Committee. In addition, it is the responsibility of the owner to verify that the paint has been mixed correctly. Most reputable painters will obtain a smaller container of the paint and apply it to the wall for your approval.

If you reside in the Lamirada communities (Morrison Homes), please be aware that some of the color palettes for Morrison Homes (dated 1999) are incorrect. The color palettes were revised on 10/10/2000. If you are planning to repaint your home the same color, please verify that you are using the correct color palette dated 10/10/2000; we have requested that Kinney Management mail the correct palette to all Lamirada owners. Please remember to submit your request to repaint to the Design Review Committee through Kinney Management. It has been noted that some painting contractors in the area will attempt to pressure owners to "paint now" while they are in the community to receive a discount.

GOLD CANYON SEWER RATE INCREASE: The May 13th hearing date has been cancelled. Dates have been set for closing briefs and replies. The purpose of the rehearing is to address two issues: 1) excess plant capacity and 2) Unexplained legal costs. Petitions have been prepared to be presented to the commission by May 19th. Copies of the petition will be available for signature at the SFCOA Board of Directors Meeting on May 13th at 7PM at the fire station meeting room. Please examine the lower portion of your water bill
for the "GALLONS USED DAILY". There will be a column on the petition for you to insert this figure. In addition, Board Members will be at the REC CENTER on Saturday, May 3rd from 9am until 11am to obtain signatures. Please bring your "gallons used daily" info with you for the petition. You may be contacted prior to the meeting and asked to sign this petition....please remember to include this figure. If you would like to volunteer to canvass your immediate neighborhood to obtain this information, please contact patprince6064@msn.com I will be coordinating this effort in Superstition Foothills. I will send out a notification to each individual community advising if you have a person in your immediate community collecting signatures. We must avoid duplicate signatures! This will be our last opportunity to fight this increase. In addition, having over 100 residents fill three rooms during the last hearing (even though it was cancelled) had an impact. Our goal is to send three busloads to the hearing where the commissioners will vote. If you would be willing to pay $14 per person to ride a bus with Superstition Foothills owners, please send me an email. We are attempting to send a bus from Superstition Foothills, Mountainbrook Village and Peralta Trails. Thank you for all of your efforts during this lengthy process; please do not give up now!!!

SUPERSTITION FOOTHILLS "POKER RUN": The Superstition Foothills Community Relations Committee has been busy planning some events for the residents of our great community. This Spring, they will be conducting a POKER RUN. The details of the event will be announced at the meeting on May 13th...please plan to attend!

FIRE LANE OFF OF CASCALOTE: Members of the Board of Directors attended the Fire District Board Meeting to discuss improvements to the Emergency Fire Lane between Superstition Foothills and Mountainbrook Village. The Board did agree to meet with members of the SFCOA Board to discuss improvements at the end of Cascalote. We will keep you updated on this issue.

PAINTING OF VIEW FENCES: View fences are currently being painted in Superstition Foothills (Elliott Homes). Landscapers have been clearing behind view fences in Superstition Shadows (Pulte Homes). Letters regarding the painting of view fences are scheduled to go out next week to owners in Superstition Shadows and painting should commence around May 19th in that community. Once painting has been completed in Superstition Shadows, the painting of view fences in Phase II will begin.

RESURFACING OF SPA: Kevin has obtained bids for the resurfacing of the spa at the Rec Center. These bids will be presented to the Board for approval at the May 13th meeting.

CRIME IN SUPERSTITION FOOTHILLS: Recently an owner returned home from the grocery store and took a load of groceries into the house. When she came back out, two expensive bicycles had been stolen. Please be careful when leaving your garage door up. There are individuals looking for the briefest opportunity to steal items quickly from garages with door left up. During that same time period a purse was taken from a vehicle in our area.
