Mt. St. Joe expansion

Posted in: Sunnyside

Odd that there are NO messages here about the sale and NEW proposed expansion of the Mount Saint Joseph facility on SE stark st.

Assuming that you have recieved notice from the city planning commision, please note that any comments you have regarding this change must be recieved by the city no later than 5:00PM March 30, 2005.

Some highlights of the proposed change:

1) Elimination of 90% of the community garden 33rd & Stark.

2) Relocation and enlargement of the skilled nursing facility on the east end of the property (33rd Ave) resulting probable increase usage of on-street parking.

3) A new loading dock/service driveway accessed from 33rd Ave. Leading to increased noise and truck traffic.

AND LOTS MORE!!

Apparently there is a meeting Tuesday March 22nd @ 7:00PM for more information. Call Paul Loney 234-2694
St. Joe Expansion

I was surprised to hear that the SNA Board isn't 100% behind this project, as they were for Marquis. If their arguments with regard to Marquis were valid for a residential neighborhood, how much more should they apply to a project that is zoned properly and will be a benefit to the community and the seniors residing there. We were assured by the Board that truck traffic, off street parking and noise wouldn't be a problem and our residential streets are far less traveled than Stark or 33rd.
