Overland Park History
Founding of Overland Park
William B. Strang Jr. Founded came to the area in 1905. He had a vision to create communities that were "Park Like" in appearance. He wanted them to have nice neighborhoods, quality schools, recreation and good business. One of these areas he named "Overland Park". Strangs dream was fulfilled as the area continued to grow and attract new businessess. The city was incorporated on May 20, 1960
Strang Line
Strang Line neighborhood took it's name from the "Strang Line" railroad car house that still stands at the corner of 79th and Santa Fe. It is now the sight of "Traditions Furniture"
