Hi Community,

I am trying to reach out to my community about the proposed feeder pattern for our community beginning the fall school year of 2009-2010.  As a parent of child who attends Townsend Elementary school, this proposed pattern is unacceptable.  Why should our child be bused to Brick Mill Elementary when we live in Townsend.  Our kids already have a long school day and then to add on more travel time makes it even longer.  My family loves the atmosphere of Townsend Elementary and the hard work the teachers have put forth.  We as well as Bishop's Walk and Spring Creek will be re-routed to Brick Mill.  If you notice, the newer developments in Townsend are not be re-routed.  I'm going to fight this and I hope that this community would get together and fight this and not allow the district to do this to our children.  Many voices can make a big difference.

Disappointed Parent

Is there really that much of a difference in miles from one school to the other?  Personally, I would rather have my child attend the newer facility when he starts school next year.  It's also closer to Middletown and Rte. 1 where a number of our development's residents work.  TES is out of the way for everyone except for people who work from home or don't work.

I'm not sure if you realize that Townsend Elementary is almost the same distance from Stonefield as Brick Mill, give a mile or so. I don't see the difference. Brick Mill is a more modern facility and given that they are in the same school district, I'm sure the quality of the teachers is about the same.
