Dear Ed,

I do agree with you that color and humor are both forms of personal taste. What is so beautiful about this great country is that you and I should both be free to enjoy our ''personal tastes''. Under no uncertain terms shall someone dictate what type of house we can build on a lot or what color that house can be painted. That would be a dictatorship, would you not agree? I would even accept these decisions if they were clearly layed out in clear concise terms in a covenant or development guideline. Does Propsect have anything like this? No, just two dictators, playing developers and ruining what had the ''prospect'' of being a fine neighborhood. I for one am in wild anticipation of the color selection dictated for the next stucco box capped with a shed roof.

Just to be clear -- I am not the infamous ''X-man'' nor do I know his/her identity. The X-man may or may not be my friend -- I have no clue nor do I particularly care. Did the X-man write some things that were less than constructive -- sure. However, I still think there is a fundamental difference between his/her comments on architecture and the type of discourse to which Kiki addressed in his letter.

In any case, I just wanted to clear up this issue of mistaken identity once and for all.
