I just called the city to report the foreclosed property at 3730 W. Mt. Vernon; I also tried to report the whole block from east corner of 38th on Park Hill straight down to the alley between 36th and 37th St. The woman on the phone told me I had to call back with specific house addresses because that's how they record violations. I'll do that, and I figure the rest of you calling the city probably will want to get the actual street addresses - unless, as with the vacant lot next to the red cube house on 39th and St. Paul, there isn't really an address.

The foreclosed properties really frost me because I have a feeling the bank is going to escape any payment - there are $1,367 of special assessments on the 2008 tax bill - do those get paid by the new owner if there is one (confirmation of foreclosure sale is scheduled in court for December 15, but I don't know if the bank just bought the mortgage...)??

I have my own opinon of the guy that owns the lot next to Ann Bowe (the cube house) his property management skills really are lacking. It took many calls to the City and Alderman (who knows the owner) this past summer just to get him to keep the weeds and grass cut. That lot is one of the first things you see coming into the neighborhood-the lot owner does not seem to care about that. What if he had that going on next to his house in the Washington Heights Neighborhood? I will call the Alderman and see if he can get him to commit to regular snow removal.

I think Alderman Murphy is trying to get some kind of new ordinance(s) going as regards foreclosure properties and who gets stiffed with special assessments, etc. things that tend to become the burden of the taxpayers.

Another thing I remembered is if you can find out who the mortgage holder is on a vacant property, not one the City is holding, you can get on them about the property not being shoveled. I'm not sure how to find out that lender info. Lucy if you do, could you please give me a call ?

Lisa - I looked up the foreclosure - the plaintiff was Citi, and their lawyer's name is listed in CCAP.  The problem I've had in the past trying to get any accountability from the bank is that most of the mortgages were sold to  lout of state unreacheable entities. But the alderman could certainly get on the lawyer. I'll check back in the CCAP records - or you could by just looking up Charlene Holder - you'll quickly find the foreclosure. I can't get to it right now without trashing this post, but I'll look sometime later.

I did look up the foreclosure on 3730 W. Mt. Vernon. the bank is "Citi Mortgage" located in Frederick Maryland. the local lawyer is Steve Zablocki. There is s confirmation of foreclosure sale scheduled for December 15th before Judge JOHN DIMOTTO. None of that does anything for the neighbors about maintenance of then property, but I will try to find out who owns it after December 15th - probably the mortgage company - and will let the alderman and all of you all know.
