Neighborhood Pool

I just moved here late last summer, but to the best of my knowledge, the pool used to be a 'neighborhood' pool, but is now privately owned and operated. The owner is a single woman who also runs a daycare center and rumour has it that it is very neglected and beginning to rundown. Also, I talked to someone who joined last summer and she said that every afternoon, day care buses would arrive around 12:30 and the pool would be packed with kids for a few hours then.

I think it costs over $300 for a family for the summer. Our neighborhood association president (Pete Schroder) said that South Suburban has been trying to buy it and make it one of their public pools, but the owner wants twice what South Suburban is willing to pay.

If I find out any more info, I'll let you know. Thanks for the interest in the web site.

I was also wondering if there is any possible way Southbridge could get that pool back?? I did go take a look at it and the baby pool is filthy. It's such a shame because it could be a great community asset. There are so many great activities that could be added there and to the tennis courts. My husband and I would love to buy it and turn it around. It seems so dead though I wonder if there would be enough interest to make it worth it. Does anyone know of other swim clubs in the Littleton area that are reasonably priced?

Supposedly, South Suburban Parks and Recreation has repeatedly tried to purchase the pool and surrounding area from the current owner, but the owner wants twice as much as SSPRD wants to pay and/or thinks the site is worth.

The only other open pool I know of in the area is Franklin Pool (Franklin off Arapahoe). But, then again, I've only lived in Littleton for a year and don't know the area as well as others.

Keep in touch and thanks for visiting the web site!
