Do You Appreciate the BWCA Snow Plowing?

Posted in: Blendon Woods

I am in favor of having a private company plow our streets.

I for one would like to applaud the efforts of our past and present board members who volunteer their time and take on the task of finding a company to plow for us.  Among the many other things they do.  I am sorry that some have chosen to be self centered and rude to these volunteers.  So I personally want to thank them for what you doSmile

We vote to keep the snowplowing efforts going! While we're not fond of having the end of our driveway piled up with snow from the street (we live on a court), we don't want to lose the private snow plowing company. It is well worth the price we pay to have them in contract.

Yes to the continuous of snow plowing.Laughing  Snow is always going to be an inconvenience for drivers, but people need to understand how city plowing prioritizes its snow removal.  If we leave snow removal to the city, we will be missing days of work.  That is more than a minor incovenience.

Neighbors are fooling themselves if they really believe that the city would provide a better service than we are currently receiving.  Snow plowing is never going to be perfect and people may have to hire a seperate plowing company to remove snow out of their driveways. That is true no matter where you live when snow is involved.   Blendon Woods snow removal clears the roads, not driveways.  As a New Yorker, I can say confidently that we are very lucky for the service we receive.  Imagine 3 ft of snow being cleared and piling up on the bottom of your driveway.

I support hiring a snow removal contractor. I would even pay more dues to cover the costs. Having personally experienced these icy neighborhood roads as well as watched others spin out of control toward me while I was on the sidewalk convinces me that our safety is worth a few extra bucks.

And I too thank our volunteer leaders for putting up with us. There is no reward in serving on a neighborhood committee other than knowing that you are doing the right thing. It is an underappreciated, target-on-my-back position. We never notice when good things happen, only when something affects our little world of order. So again, thank you for serving.
