Liana,

The following info came from the City's websire www.kcmo.org:

Trash pick-up delayed one day, City offices closed Dec. 25

In observance of the Christmas holiday on Dec. 25, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and City of Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed. The 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager's Office, also will be closed.

Residents who usually have Thursday collection will receive this service Friday, Dec. 26. Residents who usually have Friday collection will receive this service Saturday, Dec. 27.

The period after Christmas, Dec. 26-31, also is a "no tag" period for trash collection in the City. During this time, residents may set out more than two bags of trash without tags. This is done to accommodate the extra trash that is usually accumulated at this time. Residents are encouraged to utilize the City's unlimited curbside recycling to dispose of cardboard and seasonal gift boxes.

Christmas trees can be disposed of at the City's Leaf and Brush Drop-off Centers for a $5 fee. The centers are open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. through Jan. 17 and are located at 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway (just south of the Missouri river) and 10301 Raytown Road (south of Interstate 470).

For more information about solid waste collection services, visit http://www.kcmo.org/trash or call the 3-1-1 Action Center at 311 or (816) 513-1313.

Media inquiries about trash and recycling should be directed to Dennis Gagnon, public information officer for the Public Works Department, (816) 513-2659.

I have lived here for 13 years. Last year I helped form the Shoal Brook II Neighborhood Association and was elected President of that organization. We have a welcoming commitee and I hope we did not overlook you; if so, please let me know and I will see to it that we take care of that.

Our next general meeting is to be held this Jan. 20th, 2009. A newsletter containing the pertinent information will be distributed beforehand. I sincerely hope you will attend and will consider becoming a member of our association. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me (468-7993) or any other board member listed on our webpage.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will enjoy being a member of our neighborhood.

Sincerely,

Trish Martin
