On July 29, 2008, the Shoalbrook II Neighborhood Association was officially formed. As many of you may or may not be aware, informational meetings had been held during the summer to begin this process. I know that many of you are leery as to the purpose of a neighborhood association being formed so let us put your mind at ease.
What we are is a volunteer group of residents and a board of directors that will meet regularly to exchange ideas, plan projects and events and generally give the neighborhood a structured outlet for social activities and improvement projects.
Our purpose is to act as a conduit to provide the neighborhood with information about local developments, crime prevention, lobbying city government and to generally educate and entertain our residents through this newsletter and our monthly meetings.
Our goals are to build awareness and pride in the neighborhood, to help foster better relationships between our neighbors, to promote safety and security, to be aware of the needs of residents so that we may provide assistance and to promote maintenance and improvement of property.
We are not a homes association. Even if our bylaws change somewhat over time, we will never have the power to create rules that dictate or restrict the use of your property. We simply do not have that power. We don?’t want that power and we couldn?’t legally obtain that power even if we did want that power. That is simply NOT what we are about. Joining the neighborhood association is also strictly voluntary. We hope that you will be excited about many of the opportunities that we will be providing and take advantage of them. Our dues are just $10.00 per year per household. Enrolling in the association is easy. Simply fill out the enrollment application attached to this newsletter and submit it and your ten dollars to any one of the board members listed below.
