  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor
With the 4th of July and fireworks coming up, please use good judgment and safe practices, so that we can minimize the noise disturbance to others and avoid injuries or property damage. Attached is a letter received today, from a neighbor, which requests restraint. Would be glad to hear any other ideas.

Can we put something in the next newsletter asking the neighbors to please be courteous and refrain from shooting fireworks in the neighborhood? I had hoped it was illegal, but the sheriff's office says it isn't. Still, it is very disruptive to pets, children, and the general peace and tranquility of the neighborhood. We have teenagers over here that were out shooting them after 10 o'clock the other night, and it wasn't even a holiday! Our dog was about to have a stroke, and we couldn't get to sleep. The next day they shot one in the middle of the day in the driveway on the other side of our gazebo where Sam and our dog were hanging out. They both thought they had been shot!
