What do you think we should do with the trees at the front entrance?

Trim?

Remove?

Trees at front entrance

Spoke today with Mr. McDaniel of the Alabama Power Tree Crew Dept. at 257-6872. Asked him about the possibility of trimming the Bradford Pear trees at the entrance away from the power lines. He is checking and will get back to me. Of course, this will be a mute point if we remove the trees.

Trees - front entrance

Mike from Alabama Power just called back. He says he will come out and take a look at the Bradford Pear trees at the front entrance. He says they may trim the trees, or, they may be willing to remove the trees for us for no charge, and will call back to let us know, once he has seen the entrance. He is familiar with the Bradford Pear tree and says that once they get to be taller, they continue to lose limbs. Mike recommends replacement with another type of landscaping tree or bush.

Trees - Front Entrance

Board will hold on any further actions or changes to the front entrance pending the recommendations of the newly formed Landscape Committee.

Additional info for consideration:

Mike of Alabama Power (205) 915-8994 visited our entrance and called back this morning and confirmed that they are willing to remove the Bradford Pears for free. He estimated stump grinding would cost $50 per stump. He also said our stretch of HWY is on the list for trimming by this summer and trees would be trimmed then, either way. He agreed not to do any cutting unless we called him back and said to go ahead. He said it would be three or four weeks after notification to go ahead before they would be able to get out and actual do any tree work.
