The City of Minneapolis is planning to replace the St. Anthony Parkway bridge over the BNSF railyard. When approached in the past the neighborhood has been for updating the current 1929 Warren Truss Bridge which maybe eligible for historic preservation. The city has determined the cost is prohibitive and is planning to ask the state for bonding money to tear down and replace the bridge. Columbia Park neighbor Lotte Melman wrote a letter to the editor at the Northeaster asking for neighbors to help save this historice bridge. Are there folks out there interested in pursuing saving the bridge? There are plenty of preservation groups availble to contact for help but there needs to be a point person to lead a crusade to save the bridge. Is that you?
