Settlers Crossing HOA Dues

Posted in: Settlers Crossing

this post is especially funny.  the person with the offending dog on long trail is NOT amenable to being approached.  not only have i personally gone over and spoken with him (way back in september of 07) but i've left notes, sent very kind letters and have even called the sheriff's department.  the dog is such a nuisance that super bowl sunday was a complete disaster:

*couldn't even turn the tv up loud enough to drown out the constant "primal scream" of this animal.

*pet in my house was going completely nuts all day because the barking was so "provocative," i guess.

*couldn't take a nap (one of the few afternoons in which i can indulge in this activity).

*had to literally leave my house to get away from the irritation.

NOTE:  the man who lives in this house is rude, aggressive, and obnoxious.  he has been known to go into his backyard and scream at "invisible" neighbors who have "offended" him by leaving requests on his door that he stop the barking.

UPDATE:  today, he decided to allow his kids to "scream" all day on a moonwalk in the backyard.  NO effort to ask them to be a little quieter.

IMPORTANT INFO:  in case you're wondering, i'm not a child hater or dog hater.  i have raised 2 children and am still working on a third.  i LOVE dogs.  i dont LOVE neighbors who are so offensive that i feel as though i'm living in a trailer park.  i desperately want to move because of 1 reason--these neighbors.  i'm at my wit's end, and i don't think there is a solution.  they are the most ignorant, rude, and inconsiderate people i have ever lived near.

MORE IMPORTANT INFO:  if anyone wants a good deal on a 4 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood and doesn't mind living near these ghetto people, then please post a note on this blog.  i'll be certain to contact them.  VERY SAD that these people will win because the HOA chooses to NOT get involved in the barking dog/public nuisance issue.  sanctions should be in place when all the neighbors who are paying their dues are being punished by their lack of consideration.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT INFO:  not a b****, i promise.  this is REAL.  i'm a single mom and cannot handle this on my own.  the man is a maniac. can't deal with the potential danger of speaking with him again.

Men like that (like to bully women and little kids) must have something very small. . If he threatens you press charges and get a restraining order, a shame you would have to do that in a decent neighborhood.

Instead of the expense of printing and mailing notices, how about an email notice instead?  Maybe even institute some kind of online or email voting that would encourage & enable more participation.  Only about 20 at the last meeting... of how many homes total?  I realize it is up to individuals to show up, but most of us lead very busy lives.  I have owned this house for over two years and would never consider actually going to a meeting, but obviously I am willing to spend a couple of minutes on my computer.  I feel, as I am sure many others, if I was able to participate & vote when my schedule permitted, I would be more accepting to changes.  I would care more in general, likely leading to other neighborhood friendliness.  We all have a gripe or suggestion at some point.  Better lighting, better noise polution rules, hiring landscapers that don't need to pee... something.  Some are great ideas, some not so good, but they all cost money.  If my voice was heard, I would gladly vote for special projects that would also require a large due increase.  My extensive experience in real estate has taught me that you either constantly replace and upgrade, or all of a sudden realize enormous deferred maintenance issues.  It seems to me the new construction polish of Settlers Crossing is starting to wear off.  I would like to see a more aggressive approach to the neighborhood concerns, and think it should start with paying the officers so they can justify their efforts.

If you think there was little participation in the annual HOA meeting ...there is even less on this board.

The slugs that do not pay their dues would always say they don't have a computer or some other b.s. excuse.

It was a good thought but  many people would not give out their email address either.
