Settlers Crossing HOA

A Message From This Year's President

Posted in: Settlers Crossing

Homeowners and Residents,

I want to express a sincere thank you to all that express concerns with our neighborhood either through this site, email or by phone. Your Board needs to know what might need attention.

I want to also thank the rest of the Board. We are currently meeting every month, which is unprecedented and each of us brings something to the Board, whether it be knowledge from years past, financial savvy, desire to improve appearance of our neighborhood, ability to reason with people or managment skills. Some of you might have seen us around the neighborhood and one time comes to mind, when your Board fished out a bench thrown into one of the ponds. Yes, a group effort, and yes, your Board is very 'hands on' with alot! The bench couldn't be salvaged unfortunately.

There has been $7,000.00 collected more than last year in dues/past dues. Unfortunately, storm damage has eaten alot of that, something no one ever plans for of course. But with this Board, the next Board will have money to start out the year and the HOA as a whole will be able to vote on what to do with what is left this year, because of the financial planning.

We would like to express that as neighbors, please feel free to pick up trash, cut down a brown dead tree if you have the equipment, trim extra limbs, etc. because we do also. And we would also like to express, stop leaving mean notes for your neighbors that are supposedly from us. Call us if you have a complaint and we will try to remedy it. And finally, plan on joining us for the yearly meeting to discuss future plans, vote on covenants, and see where the money goes, etc!

On a personal note from me only: TRASH CANS! people, people, people, it's disgusting to view your rubber receptacles (would rather enjoy viewing your homes) and what you ate the night before or dirty diapers.  Plus it's in the covenants, that they are to be out of view. I truly believe it's the LEAST you can do as residents in this neighborhood to help the overall appearance of Settlers Crossing by getting them stored behind fences or in garages. I hope the next Board will be very harsh on violations such as this, because it has the possibility of generating a bunch of income if it is pursued and residents are fined.  Shelley Sanders

One of the best things about leaving your trash cans out in the open, is that identity thieves can (and do) go thru your trash and get your information. If you think that does not happen, watch the traffic that goes thru developments in the wee hours. I stay up late and have seen vehicles (generally old pickups and vans)  cruising around. And please don't think all those "landscape" vehicles are really what the seem.
