Sendera Neighborhood

new development at Sltr/SenderaM

Posted in: Sendera
My concerns about this new retail center are:

Increased traffic being directly positioned into the neighborhood including delivery trucks at all hours of the night and day, garbage trucks, patron traffic.

Intoxicated drivers from the restaurants that will be there.

Trash, speeding, cars driving down the center of the street, rolling stop signs, etc.

The delivery entrance is directly in-line with Hoffman Drive. This doesnt even take into account the daily traffic that will be cutting through to Davis via Ramies, Hoffman and Corran Ferry.

Please help me brainstorm ideas to present to the developer which will at the very least, get us the best of the worst deal!

Ideas so far:

Right turn only signs to keep traffic from entering Sendera

Heavy landscaping

Traffic Island to reduce speeds as traffic bolts out of that driveway.

Height bar to limit deliveries to that driveway.

Your thoughts?

I think all the ideas you have provided are good ones and a start of our brainstorming to improve our community.

I hope the development is one such as the Woodlands in Houston that leaves a large amount of growth to an extent that the businesses are not a sight for sore eyes.

I few other ideas I have are:
1) request speed humps from the city to be placed along these roads to slow the traffic.
2) a turn-about at the intersection of Hoffman Dr. and Sendera Mesa, which would slow the traffic, not allow direct running of stop signs and limit the size of vehicle entering.
3) a reduction of the speed limit thru the neighborhood.

Thanks.

Status of Traffic Studies

Lori, thank you for visiting and responding. The City of Austin currently reports that there are no more funds for such traffic calming devices as traffic cushions, circles, etc. Senderans will have to appeal to City Council in the near future to get their ear and OUR tax money.

The City has however, in response to HB87, begun installing 25mph speed limits to streets less than 35ft wide. Hoffman, Copano, and Ramies are all 40ft wide and will not be affected.

Luckily, Sendera was chosen as one of the first areas to receive reduced speed limit signs,so we should see those within the next 6 months.

Please keep bringing new ideas. We need all the energy we can get.

Also, please come to the Sendera Community Safety Meeting at 9101 Torran Cv at Hoffman on Tuesday May 9th at 7pm for further discussions on this very issue and many others.

See you there!
Alternative Routes?

Will there be another access road put in to help lessen the traffic from Senderra? I remember on the Wal Mart fight that there was not going to be an entry from MoPac, which needs to happen. Also is there going to be a road from Davis around the pool and park that would cut to Senderra Mesa? Also, what about putting up a light at the Senderra Mesa entrance? That would drive the traffic to the other exits.
