Please support Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge by becoming a Friend of Oaks Bottom.

The Friends of Oaks Bottom is a volunteer organization of interested citizens working to promote, protect, and preserve Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. Join us the second Thursday of the month at the SMILE Station, 8210 SE 13th form 6:00 ?– 7:30 PM.

The ?“Friends?”, a committee SMILE, in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation Natural Resources publish a newsletter, support the Bottom Watchers, and sponsor activities such as trail maintenance and guided hikes. Here are some of our accomplishments:

Habitat Restoration The Friends support volunteer work parties to remove english Ivy, clematis, himilayan blackberry, hawthorn, locusts, purple loosestrife and other non-native invasive plants that are intruding upon the refuge.

Events The Friends continue to support barbecues, hikes, bird walks and other fun and educational events that bring people together to celebrate, preserve and protect this unique place.


Upcoming Events

April 14 Bottom Watcher Training
The Bottom Watchers are the eyes and ears of the refuge. They help ensure that Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a safe place where people and wildlife can co-exist in harmony. Our next Bottom Watcher training session will be held April 14th at 7:30 PM at the SMILE Station, 8210 SE 13th Avenue. To register contact colleen.mitchell@ci.portland.or.us or (503) 823-1676.

May 14 Migratory Bird Festival
