#$@% *&# LEAF BLOWERS!!

Posted in: Santa Monica Canyon

Dear Neighbors,

If you think about it, there is a leaf blower making annoying noise and dust in ones back yard every single day. So much for a quiet and clean air neighborhood...
Lately, we took the "big" step of telling our dear Gardner, Don Rogelio, he can no longer use a leaf-blower! It is possible to do gardening without it.  We got the proof. Our neighbors on all sides have responded that they will follow up with their gardeners, too. NO MORE LEAF BLOWERS!
Goodness, what a difference it has made. Even Don Rogelio seems a bit relieved. It is a heavy and noisy machine to carry around every single day. He now uses a rake and water. And we get significant less dust both outside and inside the house, the outdoor furniture, the cars. The garden may not be completely free of leaves, but when was it ever meant to? The air for sure is.
And yes, it does take some more time and we pay him $100 more a month. It is worth it! I hope you too will feel the improvement.
kind regards,

Congratulations for taking this initiative.  We have had a "no leaf blower" zone at our home for over 20 years and adjust our gardener's pay and other work accordingly.  Gas Powered Leaf Blowers have been illegal in Los Angeles since 1998!!!
