Santa Monica Canyon Civic Association

The annual festival, Fiesta, is coming up in  a few short weeks.  If you
have a business that would like to promote to this community, and/or an item
you would like like to donate, or (if you have a soft spot for the school)
you can sponsor a ride at the event. Please let me know.  I can be reached
at 310.720.8770.  This event is a fundraiser for the school.  The monies
raised make a big difference in what the school is able to offer the
children in instruction.  Donations of any size - big to small -  make a

A little history about Canyon Charter and the event: Our school is over one
hundred years old and we will be celebrating our one hundredth year in its
current location this coming school year.  The original one room school
house still exists and is on our site used as the school library. The school
sits on land donated by the Marquez family, which once owned much of the
land in this canyon.  They donated the land for the school on the condition
that the school celebrates a Fiesta every year, near Cinco de Mayo, to
recognize the heritage of the family that donated the land.  Especially in
recent years, the Fiesta has turned into a large carnival, including games,
kids activities and food booths.

The event on Sunday, May 22nd, is from 10-4. The event is free, but you need
tickets from the ticket booths to eat and enjoy the rides.

Our fiesta is open to the public.  Please join us.
