Canyon Service Landmarking Approved

May 25, 2005

Today, the Los Angeles City Council, by unanimous vote, approved the Cultural Heritage landmarking request for the Canyon Service Station. The request for landmark status was made following direction of the board at a special meeting held on October 21, 2004. Approval involved several hearings before the Cultural Heritage Board and the City Council's Planning and Land Use [PLUM| Committee.
Kudos to Mike Deasy for leading the effort on behalf of the association and the community.
Next step is negotiating permanent status of the station and possible adaptive resuse of the structure.
