Leaf Blower Web Site Opens
Find the L.A. blower enforcement hot line phone number on www.zapla.org. This NoBlow website contains extensive links to government and other reports and health research, and to air quality, noise, and other grassroots and nonprofit web sites.
The Overview, Debate, Health and Action sections cover what blowers are, how they are used and misused, possible health consequences, growing resistance to their use, economics, laws, claims made by blower supporters and responses by ban advocates, and the problems of emissions, fugitive dust and noise. Action tips range from simple steps one person can do, to working as a group.
Presentation Materials include:
?• a short video;
?• letters from city and state officials;
?• the random Survey99 report and its
pie charts, as presented to the Air Resources Board;
?• a decibel chart comparing leaf blower noise to recommended optimum levels for oncentration and sleep;
?• a list of various municipal codes;
?• graphics; and
?• testimony regarding findings of timed tests that compared productivity of blowers versus use of a rake.
