SUMMARY OF RUSTIC CANYON RECREATION CENTER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

TENTATIVE LINE ITEM LIST RELEASED. The Los Angeles City Engineer has published the list of approved elements of the Rustic Canyon Park Improvement Project to be funded by the Proposition K Assessment Fund. The local voluntary neighborhood Oversight Committee will review and approve the project at a meeting tentatively scheduled for the first week in March. Construction is to begin soon thereafter.
1.Rehabilitate existing irrigation system (must protect trees from direct watering).
2. Repair, restore and landscape exterior Southeast corner patio at entrance to park. This includes removing and replacing damaged concrete walkways, removal of tree trunk and tree currently damaging the building, and planting a new tree in the center of the patio.
3. Resurface the outdoor basketball court. Stripe for both basketball and volleyball. Replace existing backboard and hoops. Install two new benches (one at each side) adjacent to the basketball court for spectators.
4.Remove and replace timbers supporting eastside of west service road and repair asphalt berm at the above location.
5.Construct new stairs from the parking area to the picnic area below. New construction to avoid tree removal.
6.New landscaping throughout the park (per plans to be Calif. native and drought-tolerant plants appropriate to Rustic. Park).
7.Revise and extend existing irrigation system. Move sprinkler controller as per Plan Page L-24 and landscape to obscure from sight.
8.Fill in holes and, low spots and re-seed baseball field. New irrigation at baseball field.
9.Extend tennis court barrier fence (per original plans) and extend height of practice wall/backboard.
10.Replace existing chain link fence around park (along Latimer) with new green colored, vinyl coated chain link fence (including required gate replacement).
11.Revise, modify and extend existing ramp leading to lower portion of the park. Work includes partial demolition of existing ramp slab, minor grading, retaining wall extension, new concrete curb and slab, and new hand railing.
12.Replace exterior doors with French doors (in existing doorframes) of the same historic style that were original to the Clubhouse, located primarily at interior courtyard and at front of building.
13.Remodel both the men and women restrooms in the existing Clubhouse building to provide disabled access and to provide new fixtures throughout.
14.Removal of acoustical tiles throughout Clubhouse building and paint ceiling.
