Utillity pole removal

Posted in: Redwood Village
I just got off the phone with Dolphuf, my contact at SGD&E, (858-636-3969) and he informs me that the utility pole removal will be delayed until mid October. He claims that the company they contracted the work to had other priorities. Look for work to start early in September. Once the process is begun they expect it to take 6 weeks to remove all the poles and lines from Streamview. He said he will call me if there are any more delays but rest assured I will be calling him in mid September to check up on things. We should be sure to celebrate this mile stone if it ever really happens.

Telephone poles elsewhere

Has there been any discussion on running utility lines underground elsewhere in the neighborhood?
The overhead lines seriously limit the size & types of trees we can responsibly plant in our front yards. Combined with water & sewer lines underground, it's no wonder we've so few streetside trees (fewer still are those of size or maturity).

We recall our street & sidewalks marked for a construction project of some type a year or so ago. Also, we are aware that SBC is resisting undergrounding the phone lines because other companies using those lines are refusing to pay fair share of the costs to move. Any idea on if this will be changing at all in the future? On the Boren cul-de-sac.

Thanks.
