The Partnership to Prevent Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Jul 16, 2002

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is the leading known cause of infant mental retardation. Approximately 60,000 babies are born every year with incurable alcohol-related birth defects that are 100 percent preventable. But prevention only works when local communities come together to raise awareness through strong public education campaigns. A new Web site from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention offers fact sheets, a directory of prevention agencies and services, and more.
