Preschools to Receive $100 Million, an article in the LA Times, reports
that the LA Prop 10 Commission voted to spend $100 million on all-day
universal preschool. Initially available for three and four year olds
eligible for subsidized child care, later expansion will include
younger
and middle-income children. The Commission will seek to improve the
quality of all child care programs and establish a credentialing
program
for teachers. This follows their decision last month to spend $100
million
on health coverage for low-income children not covered by other
subsidized
programs.
