Public Says States Should Pay for Good Preschools

Sep 11, 2002

In a national survey conducted by the National Institute for Early Education Research, a large majority (87 percent) of respondents felt state governments should provide sufficient funding so that all families can afford high quality preschool programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. While half (51percent) say these programs should be funded from the existing state budget, one-third said they would be willing to pay higher state taxes to fund universal access to quality programs. http://nieer.org/press/index.php?PressID=6
