WELFARE REFORM

Nov 14, 2001

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is soliciting public
comments about what changes the Administration should propose when the
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant is
reauthorized by Congress next year. The Act to Leave No Child Behind outlines
important changes to improve TANF.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Check the Family Income section of the CDF Action
Council website (www.cdfactioncouncil.org) next week for a set of model
comments. You may also check the HHS website
(www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/ofa) for further information about these comments.
