Housing First for Homeless Families Works

Beyond Shelter?’s Housing First Program has had such success that it was
named a ?“Solution for America?” model by the Pew Partnership for Civic
Change. The program for homeless families puts finding permanent
housing
first, instead of requiring transitional programs, and then works with
families to address the causes for their housing instability. Results
have
been dramatic -- 91 percent of the families have paid their rent on
time
for three consecutive months and 97 percent of families that initially
reported domestic violence were violence-free after 6 months.
