**New Data on High School and College Enrollments
For the first time since 1989, there is a statistical difference in high school graduation rates between the sexes ??“ with women graduating at a slightly higher rate (84.4 percent) than men (83.8 percent). Average yearly earnings for those with a college degree were almost twice as much ($50,623) as those with a high school degree ($26,795). Those who do not have a high school diploma can expect to average only $18,793 a year in earnings.
