  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

Fall is here and winter is coming and I have noticed some of the elderly neighbor's yards are getting covered in leaves and the trees are a bit over grown. Unfortunaley the owners are unable to handle the problem on their own so I am proposing some of us come together and help rake leaves and cut back trees, clean out gutters.

I am more than willing and able to do this, anyone else want to help me?

Sorry, I live 4 doors down from one of these elderly people and he continuously rakes his leaves from the yard into the curb area of the street. Guess what? When it rains, like today, the leaves all wash down the slight hill on our street and land in front of my house where the incline ends, so I have to deal with his leaves and mine.

Hi!

My name is Philip Laster.  I was recently elected to be the president of the Sea Isle Park Neighborhood Association for the next two years, starting in 2010.

I think that your offer is a great "neighborly" gesture and your intent to assist our elderly neighbors should be highly commended.

My "desire" is to create a special committee that would take on this type of mission for our neighborhood.

Although this is just the beginning of an idea to provide volunteer Senior Services for our elderly neighbors, great journeys start with one small step.

I need a volunteer to be the chairperson for this committee so that I can take the idea to our board members for approval.

Let me know if you are interested, or if you know someone that would like to take a leadership role to rally support for this and other similar senior services.

Again, thank you for soliciting volunteers for your idea for sporting our neighbors.  This is the spirit that makes the Sea Isle neighborhood a unique community value.

Best regards,

Philip Laster

Hi Philip,

My name is Ronnie Fittes. I have lived in this neighborhood for 6 years now and have recently realized that we have a real neighborhood association. I plan to pay my dues and start getting informed. I own a landscaping company and noticed your message about the leaves/clean-up of yards for the elderly in our neighborhood. I like this idea. I do not have much free time to donate but I do have an idea. I am willing to offer a significantly reduced rate to senior citizens who are unable to clean up their own yards. This applies to anyone living in SIPNA boundaries. We have plenty of equipment and could get more homes done in a more efficient manner than the average person(s). If there is some way that you think this could be possible let me know. Thank You!!
