SCHERTZ-CIBOLO OPTIMIST CLUB
IS NOW OFFICIAL

On June 6, 2005, the Schertz-Cibolo Optimist Club became an official chartered club with Optimist International. Twenty-eight of our thirty-eight Charter Members were in attendance for this historic occasion. Club members and guests arrived early for the buffet dinner.
Thanks to club member Ray Harmon for providing a great meeting place and delicious food! Appreciation is offered to Terry who is on hand each meeting night to ?“Do what needs to be done,?” and to Blaine and his crew who served the buffet. We are also grateful to Lt. Governor Charlotte Knight whose beautiful decorations brightened our tables!
Ron Woisin, President of sponsoring club, North Central Optimist Club of San Antonio, called the meeting to order promptly at 7:00 P.M. The Invocation was given by Jack Hopkins followed by the Pledge to the Flag led by Fay Hopkins. Bobbie Dyer welcomed everyone, introduced numerous guests, and club members introduced themselves and their visitors.
Bobbie Dyer introduced Optimist International Field Representative Rand Dyer. Rand told the group that original plans were to have R.E. Windham as our Field Representative; however, the night before, R.E. suffered a massive stroke and was unable to be with us. Rand shared that he just wanted to be a club member for the evening, but found he needed to fill his friend, R.E.?’s place. He directed the Business of the Official Organization. Bylaws and a Slate of Officers were voted on, Presentation of Charter Pins to Officers and Members was made with assistance from Governor Jerry Eschberger and Lt. Governor Charlotte Knight. Field Representative Rand declared the club was officially organized and business was concluded at 7:40 P.M. Donna Turner, Charter President, made a few remarks and the meeting adjourned with the Optimist Creed.
