About Our Club

Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Suncoast

Serving Our Community

The Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Suncoast is a hands-on organization. We believe that our sweat equity concentrated in projects that will benefit the local community and the community of humankind is our gift to world betterment. That it enhances our businesses by building a stronger community is but one positive side effect. Building strong friendships with honorable people and enjoying the company of like-minded individuals are the result of Rotary membership as well.

Each week at regular meetings an interesting speaker keeps us informed about what is happening in our community and/or the world. This helps us each make better decisions about our businesses and in our lives.

2006/2007 Planned Projects

Summer
Barbecue and Picnic for the Residents of the Deaf Service Center.
Club members purchase, prepare and serve 30 meals including hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, green bean casserole, carrot casserole, chips, peach cobbler and ice cream, brownies, apple pie, cookies and soft drinks.

Fall/Halloween
Barbecue and Picnic for the Residents of Ronald McDonald House.
Club members purchase, prepare and serve 50 meals including hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, green bean casserole, carrot casserole, chips, peach cobbler and ice cream, brownies, apple pie, cookies and soft drinks with enough leftovers to provide meals for residents throughout the week. We also purchase and distribute 50 Halloween bags filled with small toys and Halloween masks for the children of Ronald McDonald House.

Fall/November
Rotary Foundation Walkathon and Picnic.
The International Rotary Foundation is the part of Rotary that funds an amazing array of programs that help both local and world communities. It is responsible for nearly eradicating polio worldwide, building peace and goodwill among nations through scholarships and exchange programs, providing water wells and food production opportunities to small corners of the world thereby alleviating hunger and improving health, promoting literacy and a host of projects too long to list. The Rotary Foundation Walkathon and Picnic allows club members to meet their contribution goals by getting the whole community involved in this fun and exciting event.

Winter/Holidays
Pancake Breakfast for the Watson Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Each year the Watson Center holds a breakfast and holiday party for blind and visually impaired youngsters and their families. The Rotary club will purchase, prepare and serve nearly 100 meals to these families prior to the party at which we will help distribute gifts to the children.

Members of the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Midtown also attend an array of Rotary leadership conferences and the annual District Conference which prepare us to fulfill our commitment to Rotary.
