WE NEED A SYMBOL OF SOLIDITY and CHANGE!
What is the most easy effective way you can push back against the mood of racial supremacy and ignorance that seems to be taking hold of this nation? If you are disappointed by the move toprivatizing Medicare / Social Security, along with voter suppression let’s try this. Use a simple symbol on everything we mail.
On August 28, 1963 250,000 people filled the National Mall in the hope and belief that change was possible. This was the “March on Washington” to demand Equal Rights and Jobs. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. galvanized a nation with a dream, a dream that in 2015 is still not fulfilled! The United States Postal Service has issued a new “Equality” stamp, “The 1963 MARCH ON WASHINGTON”. I think we can use this to arouse the conscience of this nation. It’s a simple request which people, no matter what age, can do. It uses funds you are already planning to send and only cost .49 cents.
Fight against racial discrimination, call for the need for new civil rights legislation and let Congress know you see and hear them. ON EVERY THING YOU MAIL use this stamp! In this small peaceful way tell Congress and every one you mail to we need a large-scale jobs program, a national living wage and a government that makes it’s creed a reality “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal”.
Pass this on to everyone you know, inspire the souls and minds of people in every organization to which you belong, labor unions, education groups, and your church. IT’s long overdue, whether you are rich or poor, young or old, Catholic, Protestant or Jewish, Black or white use this stamp and inspire your leadership to “Change the World!
