Hello Members,
The President of the Chicago Park District Commissioners, Gery Chico, Chief Financial Officer Steve Hughes, and Adam Schwerner Director of Natural Resources along with other local CPD officials South Region Manager E. Millan, South Area Manager G. Beard and Park Supervisor (love her) A. Morgan. Came to Abbott park for a "Walk-Through", Sept. 18, 2009
They toured and addressed all our concerns about the field house and cultural center. Advisory Council President Mrs. Randall & RHCA requests were noted.
On Oct. 27 Park Supervisor A. Morgan attended RHCA meeting to report on the "Outcome" of walk through. The majority of our concerns had been met.. I am sorry to inform you Ms. Morgan has left her position for personal reasons.
So we are back where we started a year ago with no park supervisor. RHCA Park Committee and Abbott Park Advisory Council met with Area Manager Gloria Beard Monday November 9. We were informed that park was to be on inactive status until April while interviewing for a new supervisor took place. When we went into the field house for the meeting (we all noted) it looked better, was cleaner, brigther. and smelled better than it has ever! This was due to Ms. Morgan. We have come too far to go back.
We need your support.
Please Email:
South Area Manager Gloria Beard at:
gloria.beard@chicagoparkdistrict.com (be sure to place the dot between gloria & beard)
     or
Write to:
Tarkington Park, 334 West 71st Street, Chicago, IL 60629

Tell Manager Beard we are happy with the work completed and are looking forward to Cultural Center repairs. But your most pressing concern is that Abbott Park get a new supervisor as some as possible.
On this issue we are all stakeholders; you must be politically active. Please email, call, and write (more than once)
Be engaged, focused and alert: if you see anything that you don't like (fence down, cars on grass, gates open after 7:00p.m., people in park after 10:00) EMAIL or call:
1 312 747-7661
Make the commitment to stand together, fight together, and win together.
WE ARE THE CHANGE WE SEEK!!
