Free Selma screenings for South Side youth

I am delighted to share an exciting opportunity for local students. We hope you will help us spread the word.
In partnership with the nonprofit After School Matters, the University of Chicago is giving away 1,000 tickets to see the award-winning film Selma at three South Side theaters: the Harper Theater in Hyde Park, ShowPlace ICON at Roosevelt Collection, and Chatham 14 Theaters.

Ticket vouchers can be downloaded from a special event registration webpage (http://bit.ly/OCE-SELMA).

The printed voucher is valid on a first-come first-served basis at any showing of the film at the three theaters, but needs to be used by March 1 at ICON and Chatham. Selma is currently showing until February 13 at the Harper Theater, which graciously agreed to extend the film's run an extra week because of this opportunity. Teens or parents who have questions about the ticketing process should contact After School Matters, at reception@afterschoolmatters.org or 312-742-4182.

Please forward the registration link (http://bit.ly/OCE-SELMA) to anyone you believe would benefit from seeing this important film. You can also download the companion resource guide After School Matters developed to encourage dialogue and projects around the movie.

Sincerely,

Derek Douglas
Vice President for Civic Engagement
