STEET REPAIR UPDATE

EMAIL TO SYLVIA LACEY AT 10TH CONCIL DISTRICT REGARDING STREET REPAIRS

Per your request I'm emailing to get latest update regarding street repaving in the Regent Square Neighborhood, which includes the following badly-in-need-of-repaving-streets: Ivy, Vera, Helms, Hutchinsion, Halm.

The plan as presented from the 10th Council office was that two streets of the 6 in our neighborhood would be repaired during the 2000 fiscal year dated from July 1999 to July 2000 and the remaining 4 streets would be repaved during the following fiscal year, dated from July 2000 to July 2001.

The first two streets slated for repair are/were Curts and Halm, both of these were determined to have the most wear due to the close proximity to major streets and often receiving overflow traffic from these busier streets. Curts is one street over from National and Halm is next to Cattaragus.

At this date June 29th only one street has been repaired?—Curts Ave. So we are expecting, per council office statement, that Halm will be repaved before the end of this fiscal year?—July 2000.

What we in the neighborhood would like at this point, because time is running out for this fiscal year, is a confirmation that Halm will be repaved this July and an indication of when in July. And also this email will serve as a reminder regarding the repaving of Ivy, Vera Helms and Hutchinson--that according the council office are scheduled to be repaired within the time span between July 2000 and July 2001.

Again, as a further reminder, the unrepaved streets mentioned are in horrible shape and by accounts from long time residents have not been repaved in over 30 years. We all see a lot of repaving of other streets going on throughout the 10th district, while feeling our streets are in far worse shape than any of those getting the attention. In the scheme of things it seems like in the past there has been some sort of error of oversight that has caused this state of neglect regarding street repaving in our area and for this reason we are being vigilant in reminding all of the need for this important tax-payer-paid-city-service to be applied to our neighborhood.

A copy of this email will be posted on our neighborhood website to be updated with the subsequent response from the 10th council offices.

Thanks Again for the many things you have done for our neighborhood. We appreciate all the improvements and support we have received over the years and look forward to the future.
