I agree with Douglas Howard

I drove through Red Mill Farms and saw the mailbox in question. Although it is not typical, I do not see the harm in the owner wanting a vandal-proof receptacle for the delivery of his mail. It is truly a shame when neighbors can't live in peace and harmony. Also, his is not the first or the only brick-encased mailbox that I have ever seen, so Mr. Howard is right when he says the law is applied unequally. Mr. Howard is also right when he says his civic ass'n president should have had a friendly chat with him during its construction. Maybe offering a helping hand with the project would have been a more appropriate way to have a meeting of the minds. Mr. Carbine cannot be a respected leader if his m.o. is to attack community members rather than getting to know them and discussing concerns in a compatible manner. Finally, if the USPS has no objection to the mailbox, what authority does DELDOT have over it? This is a low speed neighborhood street, not a main drag or highway where motorist safety is compromised. Mr. Carbine, swallow your pride and be a good neighbor.
