REPUBLIC HOMES at South Coast

Second Edition 2001

Jun 08, 2001

Welcome to all our new neighbors:

Reminder for all our neighbors.?… Every first weekend in March, June, September and December each year is our CITYWIDE GARGAGE SALE WEEKENDS! Each first weekend in the above mentioned months, the City of Santa Ana allows City wide Garage Sales. The Republic Homes Neighborhood Association banner helps our neighborhood by placing our banner at the entrance of Spruce and Segrestrom to help advertise that our residences will have some items for sale. Hope you take advantage of this opportunity at each scheduled time.

Neighborhood Pride?…
It also great to see our neighborhood continuing to take pride by updating some of our lawns, planting more flowers, lots of neat brick work and walkways around some homes. Lots of fresh paint and new roofs going up. Looking Great! Everything we do to make our homes more beautiful will only help bring up the values of our homes.

Congratulations to Mr. Jimenez at 3030 S. Rita Way, whose home was selected by the Keep America Beautiful committee for "The Most Beautiful Yard Award" this year. Other nominees from our neighborhood were at 3027 S Rita Way and 1502 W Carriage Drive. On June 20, 2001, Mr. Jimenez will be honored at a special celebration banquet at the Santa Ana Zoo along with other winners from various neighborhoods in Santa Ana..

What's happening in our area? Pacific Bell completed the building of a concrete wall along their property line bordering Pacific and Moore Streets.

Also we had been working with the city for quite a while and they have installed eight handicap ramps for wheelchair access. As soon as funds become available, they would be completing the others needed.

After many years of working with Public Works, we finally received word that funds are available to complete the storm drain system at Bristol and Segrestrom! So be expecting lots of construction in the near future.

We have also been working with the City's Traffic engineers who have been doing traffic surveys in our neighborhood. At last report, the intersection at Spruce and Segrestrom has been designated as warranting a traffic signal light. This of course will be place on the list for next year's budget. It all will depend where we would fall on the priorty list as to when it could become a reality. But it is a step in the right direction.

Reminders,
* when walking your dogs-- city law does require them on a leash.
* Summer is here and children are at play. Speed limit in our neighborhood is no more than 25MPH. Lets be good neighbors and pracitice safety for all pedestrians.
