City to Assist Residents with Storm Debris Removal
(Saint Paul) - Over the last 48 hours, City crews have been working to make streets passable and coordinating efforts with Xcel Energy to restore to residents. City crews are now focusing on the removal of trees leaning on structures and obstructing the right-of-way.
Removal of debris from City boulevards will begin at the end of this week.
In order to remove debris from the storm that hit Saint Paul on Saturday morning, the following guidelines have been established:
Public Debris Removal Guidelines:
a.. The City will begin curbside pick-up beginning on Friday, August 17, 2007. This will allow Forestry crews time to deal with problem trees and safety issues.
a.. City crews will remove only tree debris (logs, branches & brush) related to storm damage. No construction material, shingles, lumber or other material will be picked up. Any mixed debris will be left for homeowners to dispose of.
a.. Debris needs to be placed on the street boulevard. Crews will not remove debris from alleys. Please make sure debris is on the boulevard and out of the street to ensure unimpeded traffic flow.
a.. City crews will begin hauling debris in the area west of Hamline Avenue to prepare for the State Fair. Once this area has been cleared, crews will move to other locations throughout the affected area.
a.. Streets will be posted ''No Parking'' prior to City crews beginning curbside pick-up on those streets. In order to expedite the removal process, we ask that residents abide by the temporary parking restrictions.
a.. An initial collection will be made throughout all affected areas.
Additional collections may be scheduled based upon extenuating circumstances and need.
a.. For residents not wishing to wait for curbside pick-up, Ramsey County has two collection sites within city limits that accept yard waste. They are located at Sims Avenue & Frank Street on the East Side and at Pierce Butler Route and Transfer Road in the Midway area. You can find the county
