The new neighborhood plan has been approved.
The plan is available for viewing at the Portland Museum, located at 2308 Portland Avenue, as well as the Portland Branch Library located at 3305 Northwestern Parkway.

Portland to begin Zoning Changes as recommended in the Portland Neighborhood Plan

Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton passes Resolution to begin the re-zoning process

Based on the recommendations from the Portland Neighborhood Plan adopted by Metro Council in February 2008, Councilwoman Hamilton passed a resolution several months ago for Metro Planning & Design to begin the re-zoning process for the Portland neighborhood. The Zoning changes will be done in phases with the first round of public hearings and approval processes being held sometime in August or September of this year.

Residents affected by this round of recommended Zoning changes will be notified by mail about the public meetings.

Portland Now wants to help you “own a home” or “adopt a vacant lot” in Portland

Portland is one of five neighborhoods included in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). The purpose of the NSP program is to help in the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes. Portland Now is working closely with the Metro Housing Department and Councilwoman Hamilton to offer renovated Portland homes for sale at good prices with down payment assistance and other incentives.

Portland Now also is working with Metro Housing Department about a program to deal with vacant lots in the neighborhood. Work has just begun on this project.
