playground and pool

Posted in: Woodvine

We just moved here in the past few months. I am very disappointed with the playground and pool. If you look at how much we are paying for what we have its embarrassing. Each street roughly pays $6,000 a year. That is over $50,000 a year for the neighborhood. There is no reason why this neighborhood should'nt have better facilities. Maybe a pavilion with a grill, better playground equipment, maybe some outdoor workout stations by the field (like pull up bars, sit up bars, dip bars) The  pool is nice but way too small for as many families here. What is going on here?

We bought our lot before the pool was built. We were shown a map and told this is where the community pool will be built. When they dug the hole for the “pool” I thought wow that's going to be a great hot tub. Boy were we disappointed to find out that hole was the pool not the hot tub. Whoever heard of a community pool that's only 4’ deep?  I complained to our builder but was told basically, we said a pool, we didn't say how big. When I talked to the board they said the developer would sell the HOA a lot or two for a pool. But he would charge the HOA at least 30-40k for each lot and the HOA did not want to take on that debit. The pool we have now is a joke.

I'm sorry you've been disappointed, and I'm certain that we will continue to improve the neighborhood as time and funds allow. In the mean time, this info from the "our info" page might be helpful:

"The Woodvine HOA is a mandatory association with current annual dues of $200. The dues pay for the maintenance of the common areas, playground, swimming pool including mowing, utilities, insurance and general operating expenses."

Compared to other Edmond / NW OKC neighborhoods, our dues are very competitive, especially considering the flowerbeds at 3 entrances, and that we do have a pool. For example, Summer Ridge, to our East, has no pool, just one entrance and $200 HOA dues.

Our volunteer Board and Officers are committed to improving the neighborhood and being careful with the neighborhood's funds. I would encourage you to come to the annual meetings for more detailed reporting and budgeting of HOA dues. Your feedback at these meetings is appreciated and vital to insure that we are properly representing the majority of homeowners.
