Time For Dump Day!!

Refuse Removal Time.
Our Perris Hill Neighborhood Association meeting will be held at Bradley Elementary School on Thursday evening, June 20th. The guest speaker will be Arlington Rodgers, Solid Waste Manager of the Public Services Department of the San Bernardino City Refuse Division. He will be talking to us about our refuse pickup, and which goes into each colored container. Blue for only recyclable materials, Green for only lawn clippings, leaves and tree trimmings. Lawn clippings are not to be put into plastic bags in the green container. Black containers are for trash and garbage only. NO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IN ANY CONTAINER. We will also have the opportunity to find out how to get our broken containers repaired or replaced. NOW is the time to clean out our garages and yards of old cast off furniture and junk. Use this neighborhood ?“Dump Day?” to get rid of items for FREE! It?’s this Saturday, June 22nd at Bradley Elementary School from 8am to 12 noon. NO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WILL BE ACCEPTED. At this Thursday?’s meeting at 7pm, Mr. Rodgers will be glad to answer any questions we might have about our free dump day and other concerns we might have dealing with trash pickup. Everyone is encouraged to invite friends and neighbors to this event.

?“Tag-A-Tagger?”
Graffiti or ?“Tagging?” is very costly to our community. It can frighten away customers to area businesses and dissuade people from wanting to live in our neighborhood. Now is the time to take control of this problem. The ?“Tag-A-Tagger?” Campaign is designed to aid in the apprehension and conviction of persons who deface property in the City of San Bernardino. An advertised reward system has been enacted. The reward is $50.00 for each occurrence. To obtain the reward, a person must contribute information leading to the arrest and or conviction of a suspect for defacing property. If you see someone tagging, call the San Bernardino Police Department at (909) 383-5311 and then call (909) 384-5079 for your reward. The reward will be distributed through the ?“MORE ATTRACTIVE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC. OF SAN BERNARDINO?’.

Free Website For Everyone
Perris Hill Cluster Association has it?’s own free interactive website. The site can be found at www.neighborhoodlink.com/sanb/perrishill
Areas of access include: Community calendar, garage sales, Meetings, and a free Bulletin Board. Also included is a ?“Talk About It?” site in which you can discuss local issues and concerns with your neighbors. Another site involves local clubs and organizations, including life chat with public and private rooms for impromptu gatherings or scheduled meetings. You will also find our very own Perris Hill Newsletter on line.

Neighbors met With The New Chief
April?’s meeting of the PHCA at Bradley Elementary School was well-attended as newly appointed San Bernardino Police Chief Garrett Zimmon spoke on the subject of community oriented policing within our neighborhood. Numerous questions were fielded from residents during the meeting. Since April the presence and response by uniformed officers has been tremendous within the Perris Hill neighborhood. This is due, in great part, to your active participation in that meeting in which as the ?“Eyes and Ears?” of our neighborhood your observations and concerns have been met with immediate response from our new chief, as well as Police Lt. Ted Henson with the police sub-station at Highland and Del rosa Avenues. Our thanks go out to everyone who was there and our uniformed officers who are doing a great job!

Kinship Support
San Bernardino county Department of Children?’s services has been awarded grants paving the way for implementation of the ?“Kinship Support Services Program?” in the City. One of the primary tenets of the Program is that ?“policies and practices...should encourage, not discourage the responsible actions of ...relatives who come forward to take care of the children of kin.?” Statistics show that less than 2% of relative placements disrupt if the families are given the support services they need. KSSP will put San Bernardino County in the position to help relative care givers (grandparents, aunts, uncles and adult siblings) do the best job they can to keep their kin-children in a safe and stable environment and remain connected to their families. Kinship support services are designed to help relative care givers overcome the challenges of ?“parenting the second time around?” Among the support services offered are care giver support groups, a ?“warmline?”, respite care, advocacy tutoring, recreational activities, as well as care giver training.
