The recent justification for pursuing the lawsuit against our developers is faulty.  Property values are derived from surrounding value assessments.  Being located next to a green strip in the middle of a nice neighborhood does little to affect home value.  The loss of value to these homes is certainly less than the expense of pursuing a lawsuit, unless the legal counsel is free.

The HOA in Lone Oak Parke needs to learn from other neighborhoods in Edmond and North OKC.  Many of us have noticed that other HOA's have managed to have tennis courts, basketball courts, small softball fields, pools, and clubhouses constructed, despite the fact that the median home value in these neighborhoods is somewhat less than Lone Oak Park's.

The reasons given for only having a playground (an expensive one) so far have not been convincing.  There are too many neighborhoods in the metro area that have succeeded in putting together quality common areas, whereas our HOA has failed to do so.  The fault lies with our HOA.  They should consult with other HOA's that have had success.

blah blah blah, bitch and moan...

how about offering to help???

I'm assuming you are on the HOA board, based on your defensiveness and immediate regression to childish discussion.

What I posted was reasonable and based on a bit of logic and common sense.  Why not just modify the HOA's goals to be in tune with what the rest of the neighborhood wants.  This lawsuit was silly from the beginning.  Let it go.  Our property values are fine; our appraisal after living here one year showed an 8.5% appreciation.

Stop being hurt everytime someone disagrees with the board's allocation of money.  Disagreements happen often.  Why don't you try being constructive?

I am not on the board.  I am just someone who is willing and able to help.  I do not believe a board can make change on their own.  It takes everybody.

I am not "hurt" by anything you say.  You do not affect me.  I do not disagree with you on the board's allocation of money.  I also do not like the fact that we are involved in a lawsuit.  But, it is what it is...We are, thus, let's move through it.

As for trying to be constructive, I would ask you the same thing.  While you are on this message board bitching about what the "board" isn't doing,  I am making phone calls to the board asking if I can help.  I am eager to see the common area more developed, as well as pursuing a brick wall for the perimeter of the neighborhood.  I have no real opinion on the workout facility, as I would not use it.  What I was doing, (I thought), was engaging in a dialogue.  Excuse me for not saying something to your liking.

I believe this is a great neighborhood, and I feel blessed to be able to provide my kids such a safe place to grow up.  If you disagree, and you refuese to move the ball in a more productive direction, than find a new place to live.
