Hegewisch is surrounded by water, rivers and lakes, giving it a rural feel, right in the big city. The community is middle class, working families, primarily single family homes built in the middle of the last century. The community enjoys the Mann Park which is beautifully landscaped, and has tennis, baseball and a fieldhouse with gym and meeting rooms. Fishing is very popular in this area blessed with waterways. Wildlife and nature are readily available.
