SPEED HUMPS

In April-May the residents of Autumn Park petitioned the city of San Antonio for Speed Humps from Cedar Park to Calmon Park. We were told trffic was at 1199 cars and average speed was only 33MPH. I am in a frenzy now getting neighbors to contact Diane Cibrian's office and tell them how fast traffic goes up and down our road it is hard for those of us on the street and the side streets to get out when people are flying down what they feel might be the autobohn. NEWS FLASH!!! WE ARE A NEIGHBORHOOD NOT A RACE TRACK!!!! I know that alot of the speeders are younger drivers, but it is still unacceptable. So the other thing we have to do is cotinue TALKING TO our teens aboutcontroling their speed when driving. In the mean time SAPD is supposed to increase patrol and hopefully start writing tickets to speeders. I hope that with others on board we will get results and not have to wiat for 2 more years to petiion again for speed humps. SO lets all brainstorm to get this problem rectified. SHARADA

Help Them Do The Right Thing!

We simply need to coordinate and communicate with all the appropriate officials in a way that they become willing To Do The Right Thing!
Suggest all, repeat, all in our neighborhood send along their thoughts, ideas, names, phone numbers, and email addresses to Sharada so we can compile the group who will push this thing over the top. It may work much better if we time and organize our campaign with the appropriate people, with the appropriate messages, to involve the folks who can help get the thing done well. We do need to focus and move forward, and it seems Sharada can lead us, for we have both Autumn Park and Cedar Park roads that need what the city calls ''traffic calming.'' We need to act in unison to help the city officials understand we are willing to help them Do The Right Thing, especially when it comes to safety in our neighborhood. Time to step up. That ''someone will do it'' is you and me.

The City's Traffic Department let me know that the two across the street sets of speed humps are to be placed back in their same spots Monday or Tuesday of next week......
