Parkwood Neighborhood

Can the board members push the city to have the curbs painted red for no parking by the street intersections at Scobee Elem. because the cars park to close to the intersection when picking up kids from school. It blocks the view of the crossing guard and children from drivers. It makes it also hard for the school buses who have to turn down these street at the intersection if the cars are parked to close to the corner. The curbs should be painted red for no parking at all intersections/corners for safety reasons.

Agree, Jim. I will call 311 on Monday and see if the city will accept this task (and give a schedule for its accomplishment) without anything further being required. Will advise here what I find out.

An Update

Spoke with Betsy at 311 who advised the City will investigate (no time table) the safety concerns timed around the early and late school hours and consider whether placement of no parking signs fits our needs. Anything dealing with painting may be the province of NISD, and I will also inquire about that. The Parkwood Board of Directors really are not able to address this item, as it really is in the hands of the City - and we will see how my inquiry goes...
Also I asked that if necessary the trees which block view of the traffic lights on Prue Road as you approach on Cedar Park be trimmed to permit the required DOT visibility distance...we will see how that one goes too....

Learned work order 2005133122 has been assigned to produce some no parking signs to be installed TBD (to be determined) by the city. Have been trying to reach the right person at 207-7756 to gain more information.....
