Councilman A Hall's (LAST) "E-Blast" Update 061507

A Thanks and a Farewell

Friends and Neighbors,

Wow! Four years have come and gone so fast! A big “thank you” to you, District 8, for entrusting me in two elections to serve you. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve on City Council. Thank you!

As my two terms on City Council come to an end, I feel much has been accomplished. While four years is not a lot of time to navigate the “City Hall learning curve” and then take on and address key initiatives, what we have been able to accomplish in that short amount of time has been significant.

On a personal level, probably my biggest accomplishment during the last four years is something not even related to public service – the birth of our first child, Londyn Elyse Hall, born August 22, 2005. What a joy Londyn has brought to Stephanie and me! We love parenthood! And, as everyone told us would happen, Londyn has completely changed our lives, our priorities, and our perspectives on everything! For my District and City to share such a wonderful chapter in our lives is very special and something I’ll always remember. In sharing this part of my family, you became family. Thank you for that and for giving our daughter such a nice welcome into this world!

Many are asking, “What’s next?” I don’t know! I’m really looking forward to just being home more and around my wife and daughter (and to making a regular salary again)! I have a feeling that I’ll be back at some point in the future if given the opportunity, but for now, I just can’t wait to “get home!” And, if and when I do get back into politics, I want to make sure I’m not running to simply be running but providing a good value to a constituency. Also, I always want to make sure that I’m in it for the right reasons, that those neglected and without a voice are heard, valued, and respected even when we disagree, and that any public service is not a detriment to my foundation of God and family. I heard someone once say, “You can’t re-raise your children,” and I want to make sure I’m a good husband and that Londyn has a great foundation in a world that is not getting any less complicated or nicer. Our children are our future, and if I really want to change the world and make things better, there’s no better place to start than within my own home.

District 8, I’ve grown a tremendous amount over the last four years, and I hope I have represented you well and in a manner of which you can be proud. And, as I was always taught in Boy Scouts, I hope I left our District and City better than I found it.

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve, and we’ll see each other down the road.
